A 27-year-old teacher at Sheridan High School has been arrested on accusations that she had a sexual relationship with an underage male student.

Melissa Snow is charged with sex assault on a child in a position of trust and sex assault on a child with a pattern of behavior, indicating she likely had an ongoing relationship with the student. Broadcast reports say the encounters did not take place on campus.

Court documents show Snow has no previous arrest record.
Sheridan High School officials are cooperating completely with Denver Police.

Snow was released Wednesday after posting $50,000 bond. She’ll be back in court on Nov. 19th.

Amazing how she has no previous arrests…Let’s hope that it was only this one student.

Carrie McCandless, out on bail, has been arrested for a second time for violating terms of her bail agreement. Prosecutors are saying that McCandless allegedly contacted the victim just days after appearing in court with him on a preliminary hearing:

McCandless, 30, faces charges of sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was ordered not to have contact with the alleged victim – a former student – or any other minors as a condition of her release on $20,000 bail.

According to a Denver’s 7 news report, prosecutors alleged in a motion filed Thursday that McCandless contacted the student Wednesday, two days after appearing in the same courtroom with him for a preliminary hearing.

Prosecutors asked the judge to revoke McCandless’ bail. An arrest warrant reportedly was issued for her Friday.

As of Monday evening, it didn’t appear as if McCandless had turned herself in.

A plea agreement was being negotiated prior to these events; it’s unclear what will happen now however.

Carrie McCandless originally turned herself in after allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with the student on a field trip to Estes Park.

The most interesting little twist in the story has to be the fact that McCandless’ husband is the principal at the school where Carrie formerly taught. I’m sure that’s made for a fun work environment for Mr. McCandless.

Michelle Tolar is a 26 year old teacher at Jefferson Hills, a youth treatment center in Denver. She’s charged with one count of sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust and one count of sexual assault.:

A teacher at Jefferson Hills, a residential youth treatment center, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student.

“We have laws in place to protect juveniles for a reason,” said Steve Davis, Lakewood police spokesman. “No matter how appropriate the juvenile feels about the relationship, it is illegal for a 26-year-old teacher to have a sexual relationship with a 16- year-old.”

Jefferson Hills is a residential treatment center for youths ages 12 to 18. The teens, many of whom have social, emotional or behavioral problems, are typically ordered there by the courts or referred by the county’s Department of Human Services.

A social worker at the facility brought the alleged relationship to the attention of investigators.

Davis said he believes that Tolar’s relationship with the student had been going on for a couple of months. The alleged sex was consensual and took place at the center.

Tolar also has a previous record for other offenses:

Court records show that Tolar was arrested on a charge of drunken driving in Logan County in 1996 and speeding in Larimer County in 1999. She pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in Logan County and was given two years’ probation.

Judge rules the evidence is sufficient for trial:

In an expected ruling, District Judge Julie Marshall found that the District Attorney’s Office can proceed in its case against Jennie Overstreet, 33, a sixth-grade Lincoln Elementary School teacher who allegedly had sex or attempted to have sex with at least three of her male students. The next stage in the proceedings against Overstreet will be a motions hearing, set for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 11.

Thursday’s preliminary examination lasted a little more than three hours and contained very little new information than that of the bond hearing on June 22. Like that hearing, the lead detective of the case, David Elliott, testified about his findings. Also testifying Thursday was Sgt. Jeffrey Worley, a supervisor of the investigation.

In addition to being accused of having sex with children, Overstreet allegedly drank alcohol and snorted Adderall, a type of amphetamine, with her students, ranging in ages from 12 to 14.

According to testimony from investigators, Overstreet also allowed the boys to stay the night, bought them expensive gifts and told them to never talk about anything that happened between them. The children inter-viewed by the investigators apparently admitted to drinking and engaging in sexual activities with Overstreet.

Overstreet also allegedly passed notes that contained drug references and after-school home invites in class to at least one student. “Make out�? sessions and unwanted sexual advances by Overstreet also were alleged in the detectives’ testimony.

Our legal system moves like lightning I tell ya. She won’t be back in court until September. That’s amazing.

Overstreet was back in court for a bond hearing last week, and lots of dirty details were released:

Oral sex, snorting amphetamine, parading in nightgowns and viewing pornography, all with children younger than 13, were among the allegations that surfaced in Judge Julie Marshall’s district courtroom Thursday afternoon.

Her bond was raised from $50,000 to $75,000. She was deemed a flight risk because her two children were taken from her on June 1.

Overstreet is facing a litany of charges:

Overstreet faces nine counts of sexual assault on a child, five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, four counts of enticement of a child, two counts of child abuse and one count of distribution of a controlled substance to a minor.

I imagine she’ll get some years if convicted, but I doubt she’ll be in prison for life. Sentencing has been pretty light for most of the women that do this sort of thing.

I found this bizarre:

According to Elliott, two alleged victims told him that Overstreet “provided them with Adderall�? in pill form and “showed them how to crush it up and snort it.�?

Adderall is meant to be taken for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and is a type of amphetamine, a stimulant and a schedule II controlled substance.

You kind of have to wonder how she had access to Adderal of all things.

Elliott also spoke of a note allegedly given to a student by Overstreet, who was disappointed the boy would not come over after school because “she had on a sexy pair of bra and panties.�?

Overstreet will be back in court on July 6.

Court records in Fremont County say Jennie Overstreet had sex with a 7th grade student inside her Canon City home, and provided alcohol and marijuana to several other students. Overstreet taught sixth grade until last week at Lincoln Elementary. The boy she allegedly had sex with was one of her students last year.

According to the arrest warrant, Overstreet denies having sex with a student, and denies providing kids with alcohol and marijuana.

Yeah, seventh grade. That’s pretty freaking young.

Jennie Overstreet is a 33 year old teacher in Canon City, Colorado. She’s been charged with sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor:

Police say a search warrant of her residence netted various items of evident including notes written to alleged victims, pornographic material and some drug paraphernalia.

Yeah, porn and drug paraphernalia definitely equals child molestor. Sheesh, you really have to wonder about small town media sometimes.
