Your double standard is part of the problem not the solution. The law exists because those under a certain cannot give consent. They are thereby protected! If this were a twenty-plus male and an under 15 female his butt would be under the jail. This men are always the bad guys and girls are always the victims trash is just that.

she had a history of mental instability.she was abused as a child and she thought that her role is to satisfy a man.

I am a male. When I was a 16-year-old in high school, I had a 2-3 month relationship with a classmate’s 38-year-old divorced mother. It was exciting, fun, a great learning experience in many ways, and I have never regretted it. Frankly I see nothing wrong with the idea of a young man getting it on with an older woman… as long as there are no destructive tendencies in both the male and female involved. In the old days, it was not uncommon for a father’s or adult male family members to take pre-adult males to get their first sexual experience with an adult prostitute.
Concerning the other way around—older men having relationships with teenage girls, that’s a different situation entirely. Why? Girls are different—they become more easily emotionally attached and manipulated by older men. This can be abusive to younger women psychologically—whether intended by the older male, or unintended. Younger girls can also get pregnant—a potentially huge problem for a pre-adult teen girl.
A pretty, blonde, white woman can get away with anything. They will NEVER be sent to prison for any meaningful length of time because “they would be sexually assaulted in prison.” The irony of that is amazing. The predators suddenly become terrified at the prospect of becoming somebody else’s prey. Debra Lafave isn’t the least bit sorry for what she did. All she feels is relief that she won’t be going to jail; and become the rape victim of other inmates. She had a big smile plastered on her face at the press conference after the charges against her had been dropped. Don’t tell me this woman is “very remorseful.”

Although he is a minor, he probably knew what he was doing. I am also sure that this kind of situations happen all the time, but only few get to the public. She sure will publish a book and get very rich!!!

I am a school teacher. I followed this case and I read some of the comments. Anyone who thinks that the boy, who is the real victim, is in any way too “blame” is a complete idiot! How can a fourteen year old, and bear in mind, that he just turned 14, “come on” to a 24 year old adult woman?

I have been following the case since it happned. Yes what she did was wrong and illegal, but the boy being 14 was awear of his actions and could of just said no and leave. If she then tried anything else on it he could told the cops then. But that was not the case, he went along with it and then when confronted by his parents he spilled the beans. He also provoked her into having sex. With that being said i believe he should of had some charges charged against him. if the girl would of been around his age he would of been charged with rape as a minor.
