Mary Irene Smiley is 39 years old, and she was a teacher working with disabled children at Emerald Ridge High School (Tacoma, WA). She’s headed to jail for four months for showing indecent photographs of herself to a 17 year old student:
A former teacher’s aide for the Puyallup School District will spend four months in jail for showing sexual photographs to a 17-year-old student last year.

Substitute Judge Claire Sussman sentenced Smiley to a year in jail, but suspended 245 days. She ordered Smiley to get a psycho-sexual evaluation within two months. She said the Graham mother of three, who has no criminal record, could report to jail today.

A 17-year-old student – who wasn’t one of Smiley’s assigned students but who had worked with her on a project – told sheriff’s investigators that she had shown him photos of her breasts and of her having oral sex with a man, charging documents say.
That’s classy.
It gets worse:
Moericke said Smiley had shown the boy more than one photo, more than once, in more than one classroom and on more than one computer. The teen also testified that he had touched Smiley’s thong underwear, Moericke said.
Smiley says that it was all a misunderstanding:
Smiley testified that the boy had seen the photos accidentally. She said the sex photo was of other people and that someone had sent it to her without her permission. She said that, on another occasion, she was trying to show the boy a photo of herself wearing a Yankees baseball cap and accidentally clicked on a photo of her breasts.
