Samantha Drash was a government teacher at Pace High School, in Brownsville, Texas before resigning in February. She’s claiming that the allegations are an act of revenge perpetrated by an estranged husband. Sounds like a TV movie in the making:
A former Pace High School teacher accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a male student athlete said she did not commit the crime and claimed the allegations were an act of revenge by her estranged husband.
[...]
A Cameron County grand jury indicted Drash March 15 on charges of inappropriate relationship between educator and student and sexual assault of a child.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges during Monday’s arraignment before 138th state District Court Judge Rolando Olvera.
“The genuine issues of fact regarding the allegations seem to be suspect, Drash’s attorney Ernesto Gamez said. “We’re interested in a motive if any by her present husband.
Court records show that Drash filed for divorce from Marco Antonio Gonzalez in December and received a temporary restraining order against him based on abuse allegations.
“My client is frightened of him and he seems to have made comments to her that he controls this investigation and only he can get this dismissed, Gamez said.
The kid involved doesn’t want anything to do with a trial, similiar to the victim in the Debra Lafave case:
“I understand that the juvenile did not wish to file a complaint, Gamez said of Drash’s case. “I understand that he spoke to the Brownsville Independent School District police officers and he told them he did not want to prosecute this case.
